Interviewing people is fun. You meet new people, listen to their stories, get acquainted to various lifestyles, and most of all, you make new friends. I enjoy the whole process without any buts. And since I like it better than anything else, I was quizzed upon whom to interview this week. I consulted a few friends, asked around and even put up an ad on OLX but alas, to no avail.
I was romancing my depression, when I met “Nobody”. Nobody seemed like a real fun and ‘not so interesting’ person. So I decided this is it! I was going to feature Nobody this week. I asked Nobody for the permission and we had a long conversation on Nobody’s life. Turns out, Nobody went to ‘not so important' school and completed higher education from ‘ordinary' college. Nobody proudly bragged about the ‘unimportant’ achievements throughout Nobody’s life.
I had started questioning myself if I had made the right decision since Nobody was a nobody. But I suddenly got to see a whole new side to this ‘not so cool’ personality. Nobody is a person with dreams, wings to fly, people to love, relatives to make proud, friends to hang out with and most of all the conviction to be more than just a nobody. I asked suspiciously, “What is it like, being yourself?”, and to my surprise nobody gave a brilliant answer, “I know I am not the coolest person one will ever come across. I have a mediocre life and an ordinary lifestyle but I have my aspirations. People just don’t find that very important and dismiss my dreams. To them, I’d like to say that my dreams aren’t your baggage, they’re my wings to escape you.”
I’m certainly in awe of Nobody by now. We usually do not across someone who celebrates being mediocre and ordinary. Nobody does! Nobody observes how everyone is constantly busy trying to impress and outsmart everyone by having that one different thing to show off. Little do they know that being themselves is the only way to be unique.
While I’m still awestruck by the simplicity and the beauty of Nobody’s thoughts, my cynicism reaches a new high! Why you ask, Because Nobody is a “terribly real thing in this terribly false world”. I wish there was someone like Nobody who’d understand the concept of being nobody! Sadly, nobody is Nobody!
P.S. There is a lot of pun sprinkled throughout this ‘interview’. Feel free to interpret as you please.
