Just another spark

It was a morning to cherish, cool winds and warm sun! She was happy to be on time for college and she saw him. There he was, all self assured and confident. He intimidated her in more than one ways. And yet, there was no other place she'd rather be at that time. Neva was always so confused around him although she was the kind of person who knew exactly what to expect from life. She had never been the head-turner but she had a very distinguished personality, the kind of aura that made people envy her for no apparent reason. Of course she wasn't mesmerizing to everyone but once someone witnessed that side of her's she could never really be forgotten.
She was aware of it, the effect she could have on people. but her own insecurities would prove otherwise at times. She had had enough experience to know what she really wanted and had almost lost the hope of finding someone who'd make her head swirl.
But Dhruv, he was different, so unlike the guys she had been with. He was breathtaking and yet so at ease with it. He too knew what effect he had on people around him. And was a little more aware of himself than Neva could be. But what intrigued Neva the most was the fact that he was smart and he flaunted it shamelessly.
Unlike the nerds who tried hard to repress their intelligence, he cherished it.
Neva herself was more than just a pretty face and always craved for a company alike. It wasn't like she never met smart people but she just couldn't find a person who had the same emotional and intellectual wavelength. Dhruv somehow just did. She could just chat with him about anything and everything and there was so much to learn from him.
All that intelligence also created a lot of friction between them. But Neva unrepentantly loved the sparks that followed.
Every passing day, she would become more and more aware of what happened to her around Dhruv and she struggled to avoid it, but it was already too late. To Neva, Dhruv seemed interested but it wasn't enough for her to do something about it.
The attraction just never ceased to grow. It was never an option for Neva to confront him and get it over with. There was just too much at stake. The new found friendship was holding her back.
One evening, over a cup of coffee and a conversation, Dhruv smiled at her and it was the most dazzling smile Neva had ever witnessed. At that moment, Neva had an irrepressible urge to embrace him and she had to fight it back with a tightened fist. That was when she realised it wasn't mere Infatuation. Love, maybe not! But it definitely wasn't something that could be ignored anymore.

To be continued....

Escape

I need to escape
to the world that does not demand
where being myself is not a sin
where my dreams can survive.
I need to escape where I can breath
The right and wrong, where, is irrelevant
where the greys are celebrated
where there is no obligation of explanation
I need to escape where life is abundant
to the soothing melody of oblivion
where love is not the sacred shackle of purity
where there is no obligation of definition
Escape, is that the only way?
I can succumb to delusion,
I can embrace the situation
But I need to escape,
Escape to  death.

The stereotype called love

Jay left for college at his usual time. He was late again for the train and he couldn't help but get irritated with himself. This was a part of his routine though. He resolved to make up for the lost time during the lunch break and took the next train.
For those who knew Jay, he was an ordinary, fun- loving and attractive guy. But for those who truly knew Jay, he was a fighter, a survivor and yet unaffected by all the turmoil of his past. He carried an untold story, a beautiful one. Only Jay knew and realised that he wasn't the hero of his past. The feisty damsel, who held his hand and his heart throughout, was.
As fate would have it, Jay was in love with someone he might never end up with. But love had touched him once and it left more than just a mark forever. The beauty who had taken away Jay's breath was now in the shackles of reality and Jay was a thousand feet away from her. It was best for them to be apart though, to get back to reality and find life. Oh how he wished he could! Jay could never really get enough of her, her name, her voice, her thoughts...her smile when she saw Jay. He knew she was was as much in love, he knew she was as perplexed, but he also knew it wasn't in their best interests. Both of them had accepted the actuality and yet when they faced each other after years, it would be nothing short of magic.
The train dropped him to his station and the crowd got him back to his senses. He smiled for the first time that day. he knew that it was going to hurt but he was glad that he could still embrace her memories. He was happily and painfully in love. He need not believe in the stereotype called love. So what if the beauty of love and the enchantment of her smile was short-lived, love for him was Leah and would always be!

‘Nobody’ is perfect!!!

Interviewing people is fun. You meet new people, listen to their stories, get acquainted to various lifestyles, and most of all, you make new friends. I enjoy the whole process without any buts. And since I like it better than anything else, I was quizzed upon whom to interview this week. I consulted a few friends, asked around and even put up an ad on OLX but alas, to no avail.
I was romancing my depression, when I met “Nobody”.  Nobody seemed like a real fun and ‘not so interesting’ person. So I decided this is it! I was going to feature Nobody this week. I asked Nobody for the permission and we had a long conversation on Nobody’s life. Turns out, Nobody went to ‘not so important' school and completed higher education from ‘ordinary' college. Nobody proudly bragged about the ‘unimportant’ achievements throughout Nobody’s life.
I had started questioning myself if I had made the right decision since Nobody was a nobody. But I suddenly got to see a whole new side to this ‘not so cool’ personality. Nobody is a person with dreams, wings to fly, people to love, relatives to make proud, friends to hang out with and most of all the conviction to be more than just a nobody. I asked suspiciously, “What is it like, being yourself?”, and to my surprise nobody gave a brilliant answer, “I know I am not the coolest person one will ever come across. I have a mediocre life and an ordinary lifestyle but I have my aspirations. People just don’t find that very important and dismiss my dreams. To them, I’d like to say that my dreams aren’t your baggage, they’re my wings to escape you.”
I’m certainly in awe of Nobody by now. We usually do not across someone who celebrates being mediocre and ordinary. Nobody does! Nobody observes how everyone is constantly busy trying to impress and outsmart everyone by having that one different thing to show off. Little do they know that being themselves is the only way to be unique.
While I’m still awestruck by the simplicity and the beauty of Nobody’s thoughts, my cynicism reaches a new high! Why you ask, Because Nobody is a “terribly real thing in this terribly false world”. I wish there was someone like Nobody who’d understand the concept of being nobody! Sadly, nobody is  Nobody!

P.S. There is a lot of pun sprinkled throughout this ‘interview’. Feel free to interpret as you please.

Alone and Happy

She woke up that morning with a resolve and a smile on her face. Past few days had been tough, especially for someone like her with multiple OCDs which commanded perfection, but she got through easily.
Now she wasn't a freak, just exceptionally unconventional. She knew things would get better and she kept that in mind. Maybe that's why at darkest of the times, she saw the distant beam of light. She was confident, self-loving and positively, a narcissist. She loved how her head was always exploding with ideas and plans and dreams. The problem? She couldn't do it all! This thought saddened her but she was aware that her intense wanderlust and brave desires would be fed well in time.
People around her had laughed off her plans of travelling the world, "Don't you want to get married and settle?" they asked. She never retaliated, just smiled and moved on. There was no point anyway.
She had her own set of admirers who adored her and she was comfortable because she knew she was admired for all the right reasons and she'd never let them down. But this at-peace facade and confident manoeuvre enshrouded a completely different world underneath. Her emotions were always playing havoc, her anger never ceased to surface and desires kept raging. She carried it all gracefully. That's where the beautiful poetry came from. She hesitantly agreed that she was the clichéd case of making lemonade from the lemons life gave her. She was proud of it though and being proud and confident comes at a cost which she gladly overpaid. She was lonely and she enjoyed her peace. Her demons were safe with herself. Nobody to decipher her, nobody to penetrate her safeguard and nobody to risk her trust upon. She was alone and happy..
